Engineer-Led Fabrication: From CAD Design to a Finished Part
CNC Routing • Laser Cutting & Engraving • 3D Printing & Prototyping • Vinyl Cutting
Based on the Garden Route. Shipping precision parts nationwide.
PrecisionFab SA is a precision fabrication workshop built around getting a design — yours or one we help you develop — into a working physical part. We specialise in prototypes, one-offs, and short production runs, backed by an engineer who reviews every file before it’s cut or printed, not an automated quoting system.
From an Idea to a Working Prototype
Not every project starts with a finished drawing. If you’ve got a sketch, a broken part that needs reverse-engineering, or just a clear idea of what you need, we can take it through CAD design and into a printed or machined prototype you can hold and test before committing to a full run.
- Concept-to-CAD design for hardware startups and product developers.
- Functional prototyping in 3D-printed or CNC-cut material — built to test fit and mechanical function, not just looks.
- Reverse engineering of discontinued, imported, or broken machinery parts.
- Short production runs, typically 10 to a few hundred units, once a design is proven.
Our Core Services
CNC Routing
Precision-cut brackets, mounting plates, and sub-assemblies in engineering plastics, timber, and thin-gauge metal.
Laser Cutting & Engraving
Clean-edge acrylic and plastic parts, control panel inserts, and permanent asset marking.
3D Printing & Prototyping
Functional prints in ABS, ASA, polycarbonate, carbon-fibre nylon, and TPU — built to work, not just display.
Small-Batch Manufacturing
Bridging the gap between a proven prototype and a repeatable production run, without injection-mould tooling costs.
Vinyl Cutting
Durable, UV-stable decals, asset tags, and machinery signage — including labelling for prototype and small-batch hardware.
35+ Years of Hands-On Engineering, Not a Sales Layer
When you send through a file, you’re dealing directly with the engineer who reviews it, quotes it, and runs the machine — not a call centre.
That background spans over three decades: junior engineer on an Antarctic research vessel maintaining off-grid power and utility systems; 13 years as mechanical maintenance superintendent at a Stellenbosch fruit-packing and cold storage operation (with a 1989 SAIRAC refrigeration design qualification, passed with distinction); plant engineering at a national bakery group; and site work designing and installing piping and boiler systems for breweries. Add to that time in steel casting and rebar rolling mill maintenance, and running a fruit-packaging box manufacturing operation.
That’s the standard your file gets checked against — whether a part will actually survive real mechanical use, not just look right in CAD.
Who We Work With
- Hardware startups and product developers turning an idea into a testable prototype.
- Agricultural workshops and equipment owners needing replacement brackets, wear parts, or machinery labelling.
- Automation and electrical contractors needing custom enclosures, panels, and mounts.
- Cabinet makers and shopfitters needing occasional CNC overflow capacity.
Serving the Garden Route, Shipping Nationwide
Local collection is available for businesses in George, Mossel Bay, Knysna, and Oudtshoorn. Everywhere else in South Africa, parts are carefully packed and shipped by courier.
